How to lead a Christian men's group with KPWS
To lead a KPWS group, choose a study track, prepare the Scripture and questions, invite honest discussion, and end with a practical commitment. The existing Leader's Guide suggests weekly meetings of 60 to 75 minutes for 6 to 12 men. The leader facilitates conversation and follow-through.
Prepare the group before the first meeting
Decide who the group serves, where it will meet, and what participants will study between meetings. Review the material with your church or ministry leadership. Explain the expected rhythm clearly so men can decide whether they can participate consistently.
Confirm access to the participant materials before distributing files. The Leader's Guide helps with facilitation, but including it with Complete does not grant group copying rights. Paid 10- and 25-participant licenses are offered for each program. Each includes one facilitator Leader’s Guide without using a participant seat. The relaunch Guide includes 4-week, 12-week and 16-week paths. Review the license options on the selected program page.
Use a simple meeting structure
The Leader’s Guide offers a weekly rhythm of welcome, prayer, Scripture, discussion, application, and closing prayer. Aim for 60 to 75 minutes and adjust each part to fit the group.
- Welcome and connection: share a win or challenge.
- Opening prayer: prepare to hear and respond to God’s Word.
- Scripture and teaching: read the passage and introduce the lesson.
- Group discussion: use three to five prepared questions.
- Personal application: name one practical commitment.
- Closing prayer: pray together and agree on follow-up.
Ask questions that move toward application
Prepare a few open questions rather than a second lecture. Ask what stood out in the passage, where the lesson challenged a familiar habit, and what action would make that insight visible. Make room for quieter participants and redirect tangents respectfully.
For example, after a King lesson about stewardship, ask each willing participant to name one responsibility he will address this week. A useful commitment describes an action, such as reviewing a calendar or completing a delayed task. Next week, ask what happened and what needs adjusting.
Set a respectful tone
The Leader's Guide emphasizes humility, honesty, brotherhood, and accountability. Model an appropriate level of openness without making your experience the standard everyone must match. Listen before offering advice, and thank participants who choose to share.
Make private reflection voluntary, especially in lessons about father wounds. Participants may pass. Avoid promises of secrecy that conflict with your church's safeguarding responsibilities, and know your ministry's support process before a difficult situation arises. The group should support participants without presenting itself as professional treatment.
Follow through between meetings
Invite men to arrange an accountability conversation with someone they trust. Follow up on concrete commitments with curiosity and encouragement. If a man misses a meeting, check in respectfully without assuming he has lost interest.
At the end of the track, review which practices men want to continue. The goal is an ongoing rhythm of Scripture, prayer, responsibility, and care. KPWS supplies study material; your group supplies its own relationships, meeting arrangements, and leadership.
